Final Fantasy Tactics is a RPG video game that was written by Yasumi Matsuno and developed by SquareSoft (Known as Square-Enix now) and the game was released on the Playstation (PS1/PSX) on June 20th, 1997 in Japan and on January 28, 1998 in North America.

A Playstation Portable verison titled Final Fantasy Tactics: The War Of The Lions was released on May 10th, 2007 in Japan, October 9th 2007 in North America, October 8th 2007 in Australasia, and October 5th 2007 in Europe. This version featured new content such as some animated cutscenes, extra events and battles, two new characters, Balthier from Final Fantasy 12 and Luso from Final Fantasy Tactics A2 and two new job classes, Dark Knight and Onion Knight.

A Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, XBOX, Playstation 4 and 5 and Steam version titled Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles will be released on September 30th, 2025.This version features full Japanese and English voice acting, difficulty levels, and a modern and updated look to the game visuals. This version also contains the classic mode (PSX/PS1) with the PSP English translation.
